Principals Message
Hello Falcon Families,
I am so grateful for each and every one of you! We have had a fantastic start of the year and it’s all thanks to our supportive teachers and staff, wonderful families, and our falcons!!!
We hope that you are loving our new parking lot. We have a few reminders that we have observed during our first few weeks. In our parent lot please use the passing lane on the left once you have picked up your child or if you need to pull up to the curb. That lane should help keep traffic moving. Thanks for driving slowly and paying attention to our students on safety patrol!
This month we will start our specials program. Grades 1st – 6th will go to STEM lab, PE, theater and library during the week, Kindergarten will attend library and theater on Friday. We love offering these unique learning opportunities at Elk Meadows and have the most wonderful team of specials teachers! Ask your child about what special they went to today!
We wanted to let you know about a program that we have implemented at Elk Meadows. Playworks is a recess program that focuses on engaging students in healthy play. This month your child will engage in a grade level game time with our Playworks coach, Coach Jolley. Students will be learning about our recess rules, new games to play at recess, and how to solve conflict on the playground. We also have our Jr. Coaching program that will have our upper grade students mentoring and helping to foster healthy play on our playground. Each month in PE our students will learn the playground game of the month that they can play outside with their friends during their lunch and grade level recess. We are excited about having our playground be a place of healthy and productive play!
Don’t forget to send lunch money with your child to school or pay online. We know that is a change from the last two years.
We are hiring for a 5th grade assistant, for more information please call the front office. The days and hours for this position are M-Th 10:15-3:00.
This month we will kick-off our Golden Gate Program. This is a pro-social program started at Bingham High to help teach students how to be inclusive of others. Each month we will have a pledge that students will learn about, have lessons on, and practice. To learn more about this program visit their website https://goldengatemovement.org/about-us/
We have seen the positive effects of this program in our school and we can’t wait to learn more about how to Be that Person!
Thank you for a great start to this year!
