I was born and raised in Hawaii. After high school, I discovered I loved working with elementary school-aged children when I taught English classes to students in Japan. This led me to pursue a degree in Elementary Education at Brigham Young University in Provo. I was a 6th grade and 3rd grade teacher for seven years, at Sprucewood Elementary in Sandy, and at Butterfield Canyon Elementary in Herriman. While teaching, I obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. After leaving the classroom as a teacher, I returned to BYU-Provo to get a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. As part of my program, I was able to experience internships at Matheson Jr. High in Magna, Quail Hollow Elementary in Sandy, Herriman Elementary, and Butterfield Canyon Elementary in Herriman. I was the Assistant Principal at Butterfield Canyon Elementary, before I served as principal at Heartland Elementary, in West Jordan.
I believe that through collaboration between teachers, support staff, and the community, all students can learn at high levels. I cannot express how impressed I have been with all members of our school community. Our students truly are the best around, and I have found our faculty and parental support are second to none. I look forward to working with you and your children and helping Elk Meadows Elementary continue to provide a top-notch learning experience. I thank you for your concern for the welfare of your students. Thank you for making Elk Meadows Elementary your school of choice and I invite you to contact me anytime with any questions, concerns, or items of interest you wish to bring to my attention.
